We're Hiring: Mobile Mechanic Technician

Who We Are

J&W is a Christian-owned mobile mechanic and diagnostics business based in Lucedale, Mississippi. Since 2022, we've been taking the shop to our customers — driveways, workplaces, farms, and jobsites within 60 miles of Lucedale. We work on gas and diesel vehicles, heavy trucks and semis, and farm and construction equipment.

We run this business on faith, honesty, and taking care of people. We tell customers the cost before any extra work begins. We honor the Sabbath. And we treat every customer like a neighbor, because most of them are. The phones are ringing, and we're ready to add a technician who wants to build something good with us.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for a skilled mechanic who loves the work, takes pride in getting it right the first time, and shares our Christian faith and values. J&W is a faith-based business, and our faith shapes how we work, how we treat customers, and how we treat each other. We want a teammate who walks that out too.

What You'll Do

• Travel to customers' homes, workplaces, and jobsites within 60 miles of Lucedale.
• Diagnose problems the right way, with scan tools and hands-on testing, and find the root cause — not just the code.
• Repair gasoline and diesel vehicles: brakes, electrical, cooling and AC systems, fuel systems, starting and charging, and more.
• Explain what you found in plain language, and make sure the customer knows the cost before any additional parts or work.
• Keep the office in the loop: confirm arrivals, report findings, and send a short note when each job is done.
• Leave every job site as clean as you found it.
• Represent J&W with honesty, respect, and good work every time.

What You Need to Bring

• Years of hands-on experience as a mechanic. ASE certification is welcome but not required.
• Your own hand and power tools.
• Your own reliable work truck to get to jobs.
• A valid driver's license.
• Live within 60 miles of Lucedale, MS.
• A Christian faith and values that line up with ours.
• Good communication, a strong work ethic, and the habit of showing up when you say you will.

A Plus If You Have

• Diesel, heavy truck, or semi experience.
• Experience with bidirectional scan tools and module programming.
• Mobile mechanic or field service experience.

How You're Paid

This role starts as an independent contractor (1099). You're paid a percentage of the labor on every job you complete, so your pay grows with the work you do. We'll go over the exact percentage in the interview, based on your experience. As the work grows, there's a path to joining J&W as an employee (W-2).

Schedule

Our working hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 AM to 6 PM, and Friday, 8 AM to 3 PM. We close Friday evening through Saturday for the Sabbath, and we're closed Sundays. Real emergencies are handled case by case, only when it's safe to go.
